The Delhi unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will stage demonstrations in the Capital on Monday to protest against the recent hike in petrol price. The party will also protest the lack of water and power supply.
The decision was taken in a meeting attended by office-bearers, MLAs and councillors on Sunday under the leadership of Delhi BJP president Vijendra Gupta. “The BJP will continue its movement in Delhi till the Congress government rolls back the hiked petrol price. The Congress has lost the right to rule the country and Delhi due to its insensitive attitude,” he said.
The party will also protest outside Delhi Jal Board (DJB) offices. Gupta will address people at Varunayala (DJB headquarters), Jhandewalan at 11.30am on Monday. “The numerous price hikes by the Congress government in Delhi has proved that the party is anti-people and needs to be ousted from power,” said Gupta.
He said the BJP would start a movement in Delhi against the Congress government from Monday and protest hike in the prices of petrol, power and water. The demonstrations will be organised at 14 locations in Delhi and will conclude on May 31 with ‘Bharat Bandh’.
“We will take part in the countrywide bandh and force the Sheila Dikshit government from taking anti-people decisions,” said Gupta.
