A blueline bus crushed a smalltime businessman at Desh Bandhu Gupta Road in central Delhi around 2 pm on Sunday.
Ashok Sehgal (45), a resident of West Patel Nagar, was on his way to a temple to attend a prayer meeting when the mishap happened. He had just parked his scooter at a bus stand when the driver of the Blueline bus reversed his vehicle. Sehgal came under the rear wheels of the bus.
The man was rushed to Sir Gangaram Hospital where he succumbed to injuries after half an hour. His family has been informed.
The police said that the driver of the bus, Yakub Ali, was arrested. The police also said that the driver did not see Sehgal while he was reversing the bus.
A case of rash and negligent driving was registered at the DBG Road police station.
Just two days back, a 22-year-old man died after a Blueline bus hit him at Barakhamba Road on Friday evening. The victim had recently come from Varanasi and had taken up a job at a private firm in Patel Nagar. In spite of a government crackdown on the buses, the Bluelines’ killer run continues.
