Bodies of a 25-year-old married woman and her male friend were found in mysterious circumstances near a railway track in outer Delhi’s Samaipur Badli on Thursday morning. The bodies were discovered by a passerby, who made a call to the police control room.

The victims have been identified as Geeta and Amit. Both hailed from Saharsa district in Bihar and had been colleagues in a private factory in Bawana industrial area some time ago.

Geeta is survived by her husband and three children. They lived in a rented accommodation in Bawana area.

Though police have not ruled out the suicide angle, they suspect that the couple could have been hit by a speeding train while crossing railway tracks. No suicide note was recovered from the spot. Police are also probing the possibility of a love affair between the two.

“There are injury marks on their bodies. But the exact cause of death will be ascertained after the post-mortem examination,” a police officer said, adding that their bodies have been preserved in the mortuary of Babu Jag Jivan Ram Hospital.

According to a senior police officer, the victims became friends while working together in a private factory. A few months ago, the woman quit the job and started working in another factory.

Both the victims had been missing from their houses since Wednesday night.

“We are investigating the case from all possible angles and are questioning their family members,” added the senior officer.
