Four days after the funeral at a south Delhi cremation ground, the immediate families of liquor baron Gurdeep Singh alias Ponty Chadha, and his younger brother Hardeep bid them a final, solemn and united adieu on Thursday.

The ‘antim ardas’ (last recital) of the Chadha brothers, who were who were gunned down at a disputed farmhouse in DLF Chhatarpur last Saturday, was held at central Delhi’s Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib.

“Just like their cremation, it was their mother Prakash Kaur’s wish that their antim ardas, too, be held at the same time,” said a close associate of the family. Other family members decided not to speak with the press. More than 3,000 invitees were expected.

Having reached the venue in different cars from a convoy of eight SUVs — Prakash Kaur was seen accompanied by Ponty’s wife Lovely, son Manpreet and his wife Sanam Deep. Hardeep’s wife Jasdeep entered the gurdwara with her children Bikramjeet, Adhiraj and daughter Janpeet.

As the priest began reciting the soothing ‘paath’ (sermon), tradition prevailed to bring men and women from both ‘camps’ to merge and sit opposite each other with dampened eyes.

“Thousands of employees and their families, who were dependent on both brothers to earn their daily bread, are with the grieving family. It’s a loss to society,” said senior Samajwadi Party leader Ramgopal Yadav.

Om Prakash Chautala, former Haryana CM said, “This is a tragedy. They were good people and we are with them in their moment of need and grief.”

Who attended?
Union minister Preneet Kaur, UP politician DP Yadav, Delhi MLA Tarvinder Singh Marwaha, Chairman of the SC/ST Commission PL Punia, Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor, director Pooja Bhatt, and MPs Raj Babbar and Mohd Azharuddin.
