As acknowledgment of its contribution to the smooth functioning of the Delhi Metro, the Bombardier Transportation has received an order for 76 additional Movia Metro coaches from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

The contract is valued at approximately Rs 546 crore (84 million euros). Delivery for the consignment will commence in the third quarter of 2012 and is expected to complete in early 2013.

This is a follow-up to orders for 114 vehicles received in mid-2010, said Bombardier officials. With the new order in, DMRC will be operating a fleet of 614 Metro coaches, one of the largest in the world.

During the Commonwealth Games, Bombardier’s Metro trains were a cornerstone of the mobility plan successfully implemented by DMRC.

Stéphane Rambaud-Measson, President, passengers' division, Bombardier Transportation, said: "We are delighted to receive this additional order to supply Movia vehicles in New Delhi. We intend to contribute to the success of the Delhi Metro network by delivering more of our high-performance Movia vehicles."
