Bookies cash in on loose cyber control

India may be worked up over the activities of illegal cricket bookies, but it has no effective cyber law to prevent punters from placing online bets with foreign bookmakers, who are based in countries where betting is legal.

Some of the biggest bookmakers in the world are using this legal loophole to lure Indians to bet on pretty much everything, with the results of Indian Premier League matches and various aspects within it one of the biggest attractions.

Hindustan Times has found that opening an online account and placing bets on these sites is quite easy, defeating the very purpose of keeping checks on betting in India.
