A Class X student who enacted his own kidnapping drama with the help of three classmates to "extort" money from his father for buying a motorcycle and mobile phone was arrested in New Delhi, police said on Friday.
Ironically, the boy was arrested following investigations into a complaint filed by his father who paid a ransom amount of Rs one lakh to his son's "kidnappers" and got him "released".
The classmates, which included his "best friend", were also caught by police on Thursday night. All of them were Class X students of a public school in Khajoori Khas and residents of New Ashok Nagar.
The kidnapping idea was that of 15 year old boy who wanted money for buying a motorcycle and an expensive mobile phone, which his parents were not willing to gift him, a senior police official said.
He discussed the plan with his "best friend" who roped in two other students and on Monday allegedly made the ransom call of Rs one lakh to the boy's father.
