For Honey Singh (19), an argument with six of his classmates who were harassing a woman, cost him his life. The six accused allegedly beat and stabbed Honey to death in Katwaria Sarai late on Monday.
While police say, Honey, a resident of Katwaria Sarai, got into an argument with a few outsiders after he prevented them from harassing a woman, eyewitnesses and relatives say the accused were his classmates and lived in the same area.
“I was at my shop when Honey got into an argument with some boys. The fight was brought under control after the residents intervened. I closed my shop and went home. Around 11:15 pm, there was a commotion outside. I went out and saw the six boys attacking Honey,” said Dinesh, a shopkeeper in the area.
“One of the six stabbed Honey in the chest before we could reach them. They then fled the spot leaving Honey bleeding. A PCR took him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead,” said Dinesh.
He said three of the boys were caught from their rented accommodation in Katwaria Sarai, where they were hiding, by the neighbours and Honey’s relatives and thrashed before handing them over to the police.
The arrested accused have been identified as Maninder Singh, Charan Singh and Saurabh Yadav. The other three have been identified as Himanshu, Raju and Narender.
Police officials said that they have registered a case of murder at Vasant Vihar police station. Efforts are on to arrest the absconding accused.
