The men who raped a 30-year-old BPO employee on Wednesday night had come prepared — the victim reportedly told the police that the men were carrying a mattress in the pick-up van in which she was abducted and gangraped.
The police also suspect the men had been keeping an eye on the victim’s movements for a while. For three years, the victim was dropped at the same spot near Dhaula Kuan — 100 metres from her house.
“There are chances the crime was pre planned— there was no number plate on the rear of the van, there was a mattress inside and she was taken to a desolate area more than 30 kms away,” said a senior police officer. “It took them only 25 minutes to reach Mongolpuri (where she was raped), which means they were used to the route.”
The victim told the police the accused spoke in Hindi and used misplaced English expletives such as “bastard” when she resisted the attempts of two of them. “We have the CCTV footage of the vehicle and also the version of an eyewitness,” said HGS Dhaliwal, deputy commissioner of police (south).
No arrests were made till Thursday night.
