Bridge with God

One positive fall-out of my recent illness was that I could establish a link to God at a very early stage. Earlier I used to hold his hand but now I felt that He is holding my hand. Earlier my hand used to slip whenever any temptation or crisis arose but now He does not let my hand go.

Hence there is no way to fall out with Him. I could at worst of my times feet Him sitting besides my bed encouraging me to fight on but never promising anything. I think it is most important for us all to have at least one thread attached to God and keep tuned in to Him even while carrying out worldly affairs.

It is like a musician whose one thought is always on the guiding notes of his tanpura whatever aalap he may take. He keeps on singing within the notes of Raga freely to his innovations but his one thought is always on the tanpura. Or take a case of a pregnant woman whose one thought is always on her unborn child even while doing the house work. The women in Rajasthan carry 4 or 5 earthen pots of water on their head while talking to their friends since one thought is always on balancing the pots.

If this link is established, it becomes easy to have an interaction with God. He would at times come and talk to you. I have heard of a man found dead in his bed but his head was resting on the chair near his bed.

How to establish this link with God? Firstly one must have total faith in Him. This comes to us once we know that the person knows his job. Faith in God that He knows how to run this world.

Chanting His name for some time during the day can help. Recall Kabir’s saying, “It was good that my bead string is now broken and I am now a freeman from this ritual and ready to merge with Him.”
