Delhi Police have arrested the main accused in the Harsh Vihar triple murder case where three men had gunned down middle-aged parents of a youth who had eloped with accused's sister.

Police said Durgesh Tiwari had eloped with Geeta, his neighbour's daughter and in order to take revenge Geeta's family decided to kill Durgesh. On June 1, to kill him Geeta's brother Dinesh hired two of his schoolmates and entered his house.

While Durgesh managed to escape, the assailants killed his parents Sharda Prasad Tiwari, 45 and Shobha, 40. Police said they later killed Geeta also. "We have arrested Dinesh and previously two contract killers and three of his relatives had been arrested. This is sixth arrest in the case," Sanjay Jain, DCP (northeast) said.

Geeta's family members were aware of the fact that he would come to his residence to appear for a court date on the morning of June 1.

"The contract killers identified as Bhushan and Padam returned to their native village after the murder where they were again approached by Ratan Singh, Geeta's father who asked them to kill Geeta. She was picked-up from her relative's home in Bulandshaher, shot and dumped on a road side in Jhajjar," said a senior police officer requesting anonymity.
