Btech student robbed, left for dead

A 20-year-old Btech student was assaulted and robbed by four men on NH-24 area near Indirapuram late on Wednesday. Thinking him to be dead, they then threw his body in a nearby drain. But Shashi Kant Sharma was lucky.

A resident of Sahibabad, Sharma was on way home after his interview with an MNC in Noida Sector 64. He was waiting for an autorickshaw around 9.30pm when four men in the 18-20 age group cornered him. The robbers beat him mercilessly and bashed his head with a brick. They took away his mobile phone, some cash and gold rings, police said.

"He regained consciousness after some time and was spotted by some passers by and taken to a private hospital," senior superintendent of police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said. He is stated to be out of danger.

"We have ordered a thorough investigation and police teams are on a lookout for the robbers," the SSP added.

The victim is stated to be a resident of Vrindavan Garden area of Sahibabad and a

third year Btech student at a private engineering college on NH-58.
