Students seeking admission in Delhi University's South Campus colleges will no longer have to battle commuting woes, with enhanced connectivity being promised with the commencement of the new academic session.

With South Campus starting its campus specific bus service in the new academic session, students can be assured of a much safer and faster way of reaching their respective colleges. "The bus will start from the Jor Bagh Metro station at 8am, move towards Safdarjung flyover, Lakshmibai Nagar and Sarojini Nagar. It will first drop students at the Delhi College of Arts and Commerce and then head towards Moti Bagh," said Dinesh Varshney, deputy dean of students welfare, South Campus.

The bus route thus planned proceeds towards Jesus and Mary College, Maitreyi College, and then moves toward Satya Niketan, where it will drop the students at ARSD College and Sri Venkateswara College. Finally, it will cover the South Campus area, where it will drop students at the Ram Lal Anand College and Moti Lal Nehru College.

"A second bus will also start from Jor Bagh within few minutes. It will follow the same route to phase out the student crowd," said Varshney.

The frequency of these buses will see an increase after 2pm to cater to the students who attend the evening college classes. "There are more students who travel on this route for the evening colleges. We will increase the frequency so that the buses run every 15 minutes, even as late as 8pm," added Varshney.

Students have found a new reason to rejoice with this latest feature. "I have to travel quite a distance everyday for college and tuition. If this service starts, I can take a Metro and then catch the bus to Satya Niketan," said Rahul Sharma, student, Moti Lal Nehru College.
