A businessman was shot dead in broad daylight by unidentified men while he was travelling in his car in the national capital today with police suspecting a financial dispute to be behind the incident.
Ankit Minocha, a resident of Mehrauli, and his three friends were shot at by unidentified persons as their car passed by Buddha Jayanti Park on Shanker Road in Chanakyapuri police station area at around 1:30 p.m.
Minocha, the Vice Chairman of Mehrauli-based Punjab Society who suffered bullet injuries in his head, was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre where he was declared brought dead, a senior police official said.
However, one of his friends was injured in the incident and the whereabouts of his friends, who left Minocha at the hospital, were not known immediately, the official said, adding police is investigating whether they were armed.
Around eight rounds were fired by the assailants who managed to flee from the scene soon after the incident in their car, the official said. Message has been passed on to neighbouring police districts about the incident.
Police is suspecting financial dispute to be the reason behind Minocha’s killing and two Karol Bagh-based car dealers -- Pushkar and Sushil Arora -- are under the scanner of investigators.
