After deferring it for almost six months, the Delhi government is finally prepared to revise fare structure of buses. The government is expected to clear the proposal in a cabinet meeting later this month.
The revised fare will be implemented as soon as the cabinet clears it.

Though the government is yet to take a final call on new slab of tickets, senior officials said minimum fare would be increased from the existing Rs 3 to Rs 5.
The highest slab would be increased from Rs 10 to Rs 15.
“We have yet to finalise fare slab from 2-3 different models, which will be done very soon,” said a senior Delhi government official at the function to flag off 107 new AC and non-AC low-floor buses.
While the government was mulling revision of fare in DTC buses for quite some time, senior officials said they first wanted to add new low-floor buses to its fleet before revising the fare.
Though the government had initially thought to appoint a fare revision committee, to expedite the process it later decided to get the approval from the state cabinet.
Along with the DTC and Blueline, fare of the metro feeder buses would also be revised from the current slabs of Rs 5 and Rs 7 to Rs 8 and Rs 10.
DMRC runs over 100 feeder buses on 17 different routes in Delhi. Feeder buses currently charge Rs 5 and Rs 7 from the commuters depending on the kilometre travelled.
In many colonies, metro’s feeder buses also serve as local transport for residents to commute between two blocks or to the neighbouring market places.
A senior official said fare structure of three-wheelers and taxis would also be revised soon.
“The revision of transport fare was long due. The last time the fare structure of the public transport was revised in Delhi was in 2007,” the official said.
The auto-rickshaw and taxi unions had also demanded fare revision when CNG-price by Rs 2.10/kg in May this year.
