BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) is planning to generate solar power.
"BYPL's car parking at its head office in Karkardooma and other office locations will help generate over 355 KW of solar power. In addition, BYPL's 88 REAP (Renewable Energy Assisted Pump) 'solar' pumps will help it harness an additional 100 KW of solar energy," said a BYPL official.
The project, costing Rs. 3.6 crore, has been partly funded by the ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE).
The remaining cost of the project has been borne by the company. This will help BYPL save over Rs. 50 lakh annually.
BYPL has also received orders for installing 75 REAP (Renewable Energy Assisted Pump) solar pumps from various MPs &MLAs in Delhi.
As each solar pump has a capacity of 1.2 KW, they will save 90 KW or around 32,500 units per year.
Since the last financial year, 13 REAP pumps have already been installed at various MCD schools, parks and BYPL office locations saving nearly 16 KW power.
