A 30-year-old school cab driver was shot dead by a small time property dealer in outer Delhi’s Samaipur Badli area on Wednesday night. The incident happened following an argument over the payment of Rs 7 lakh loaned to the accused by the victim’s brother.

The firing incident took place around 9pm during a farewell party of an MCD employee attended by the victim as well the accused. The deceased was identified as
Virender Maan while the accused, who is absconding, has been identified as Ravi Bhardwaj.

Bhardwaj was accompanied by his two associates, Ajay and Ravindra, who are also absconding. A case of murder has been registered at the Samaipur Badli police station and efforts are on to nab the accused.

A senior police officer said Maan was going to attend the farewell party of his friend’s wife along with four others in his car when he received threat calls on his mobile phone. When his friends asked him about the issue, Maan told them that his brother Deepak had loaned R7 lakh to Bhardwaj for buying a car some months ago.

The victim was at the party when Bhardwaj arrived there with his two men and entered into an argument with him. During the brawl, Bhardwaj took out a pistol and fired at Maan. He was immediately rushed to a nearby government hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival, the officer added.
