Coming to the aid of property owners in South Delhi, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s (MCD) building department will organise special camps to regularise buildings.
Over the past one week, the department has sealed properties, including paying guest accommodations, owing to unauthorised construction. “There were a total of 174 properties, of which 74 have already been regularised. We’ll start the camp from December 9 and will regularise 10 properties a day,” said a senior MCD official. He added that action would be taken against the owners, who did not get their properties regularised.
The civic body took action against 80 properties in various parts of the city on Friday. The MCD’s demolition squad took action against 75 properties in west, central, Rohini and Civil Lines zones. Besides, five properties in west zone were sealed.
The action was taken in areas like Rajouri Garden, Janak Puri, Mansarovar Garden, Kirti Nagar, Punjabi Bagh, Paschim Vihar and Raja Garden, among others.
According to the corporation, many of its zones have already uploaded details of the properties, which have been booked for illegal construction. “Before making a purchase, a buyer should check the website and ensure that he does not end up buying properties, which have carried out illegal construction,” the official said.
