A car driver, who fled with Rs three million kept in his owner's car in northwest Delhi, was arrested from Patiala in Punjab with the money, police said on Wednesday.
Rakesh Kumar was arrested in the afternoon on the charge of stealing the money kept in the car of Rajneesh Kumar, a food grain dealer, in Prashant Vihar area of northwest Delhi on Tuesday. Kumar, 30, had been working as Rajneesh's driver for the past 12 years.
"Kumar was arrested with the joint effort three states polices - Delhi, Haryana and Punjab - from Patiala and the amount was recovered from him," Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest Delhi) Manish Aggarwal said.
On Tuesday, Rajneesh who had gone to meet his acquaintance in the Rohini court complex left the bag carrying money the in his Ford Ikon car. Rajneesh resides in a nearby locality Rani Bagh.
But when he returned after he found his driver missing with the bag.
