The self-draw was attended by a group of panellists, including senior CPI leader A.B. Bardhan and Dwarka MP Mahabal Mishra.

The draw was conducted for 900 odd flats. But 24 hours after the self-draw, the RCS declared it as “null and void”.

Dr Ashish Chandra Verma, Registrar, Cooperative Societies (RCS), said a complaint has been lodged against the managing committee of all the 11 societies as well as individuals who have taken possession of their flats.

“A complaint has been lodged with the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South-West, on Tuesday. It is a cognisable offence, which can invite imprisonment up to seven years.”

“We have also asked the sub registrar of the area to not register any properties that were part of the self draw as it is completely illegal.”

Ashok Kumar, member of one of the societies, said, “The decision to hold self-draw was taken by the general body of all the societies.”

“The Delhi Cooperative Society Act 30 empowers the governing body to take such a decision. There is nothing illegal in this.”

The DDA has also been instructed by RCS to evict any such properties that might be found occupied.
