The BJP on Thursday said it was “deeply dismayed” by the decision of
not to telecast the cash-for-vote sting operation, which the channel conducted with the help of three BJP MPs.
Senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu said, “The BJP has been compelled to decide that it will boycott CNN-IBN and channels related to it till such time as the unedited tapes of the ‘notes-for-votes’ scandal are telecast.” He said till the tapes are telecast, no BJP functionary in Delhi or in the states would appear on the CNN-IBN programmes.
Blaming the channel, Naidu said more than a week has passed since one of the most sordid events in India’s parliamentary history was captured on camera.
Speaker to look into NDA’s demand
Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on Thursday told BJP’s VK Malhotra that he would look into the NDA’s demand that more parties be included in the special committee of MPs that is probing three BJP MPs’ complaint that they were offered bribes to help the UPA win the July 22 vote.
