Do not disturb couples. That is what Delhi Police Commissioner YS Dadwal told his men on Friday.
He held a meeting with all the area Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCPs), Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) on Saturday.
In the meeting held at Shah Auditorium, Dadwal discussed general policing, overall functioning of the department, investigation methods, shortcomings and especially the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
One of his most significant messages to the personnel was to concentrate on general policing rather than moral policing of couples in the city. “He told us that we should stay away from moral policing. Couples sitting in parks and cars, who are otherwise harmless and not causing any sort of trouble should not be disturbed,” said a senior police officer who did not want to be quoted.
The officer also said that the commissioner told them to be more courteous to Delhiites. “He said policing needs to improve we should treat and handle the people in a better manner,” said the officer.
According to sources, Dadwal also discussed the increasing corruption in the department and that the ACPs are not monitoring the working of police stations.
Dadwal has also reportedly been making surprise visits to police stations as well.
