CBI claims to have found Bhanwari's remains

delhi Updated: Jan 06, 2012 14:53 IST

The CBI team probing the death of Bhanwari Devi, have claimed to have found what could possibly be the remains of Bhanwari Devi, according to media reports.

The investigation team was searching the Rajiv Gandhi canal after the state administration stopped water flow inorder to assist the investigators.

The contents of the bag, besides what could possibly be the remains of Bhanwari Devi, include a sharpe edged weapon and two pistols.

The items have been sent for forensic examination.

CBI sources said the former nurse had been killed at the behest of sacked minister Mahipal Maderna and MLA Malkhan Singh Bishnoi.

Jakhad reportedly told the CBI that Bhanwari’s body was burnt in Jaloda by gang members. A CBI team went to Jaloda village along with Jakhad to recover any clues from the site, which would be crucial to nail the guilty.

Sources said conspiracy to kill Bhanwari was hatched by Maderna and Bishnoi as Bhanwari, who had political ambitions, was blackmailing the former minster.

Maderna and Bishnoi have admitted to relations with Bhanwari.

The sources said, after she began blackmailing Maderna sought Malkhan’s help. They contacted Sahi Ram, a contractor, and asked him to kill Bhanwari. Sahi Ram killed Bhanwari and handed over the body to the Bishna Ram gang for disposal. Bishna Ram is still absconding.

According to the CBI, Bhawari's husband Amarchand knew about her abduction in advance and was paid Rs 10 lakh by Malkhan Singh.

Maderna, who represents Osian assembly constituency, was sacked from the Cabinet on October 16 after his name came up in the case. He was arrested in December 2 while Malkhan was arrested on December 19 for involvement in the case.
