The CBI plans to register an FIR in connection with the bribery allegation leveled by army chief General VK Singh against retired Lieutenant General Tejinder Singh. General VK Singh has claimed before CBI investigators that Lt Gen Tejinder Singh offered him bribe of Rs 14 crore to clear a tranche of sub-standard Tatra heavy duty trucks for the army.

General Singh has also claimed that the retired officer offered him bribe on behalf of Vectra group owner Ravinder Rishi who is facing a separate CBI probe in connection with procurement of Tatra trucks by the army from 1997 onwards.

Lt Gen Tejinder Singh has all along maintained that he indeed met General VK Singh in September 2010 but the meeting was for a personal reason. After the investigators demanded, General Singh has now provided record of the meeting and details irregularities in procurement of Tatra trucks by the army.
