With classic American movies such as Sunset Boulevard (1950), The Odd Couple (1968) and Stranger Than Paradise (1984), video clippings and quizzes, a film festival will give you insight into everything you always wanted to know about New York, Los Angeles, Boston and other American cities. Organised by The American Centre in association with Motion Picture Distribution Association and Cine Darbaar, the three-day event, called City Symphonies — USA, will show eight movies.
The festival begins with The Avengers (2012) on Septmeber 27 at 6 pm. The following days will see movies such as Paper Moon (1973) and Gone Bab Gone (2007). “The festival is being organised to show people the various American cities that attract tourists,” says Donald Maylord, assistant cultural affairs officer, American Centre. There will also be interactive sessions, workshops, music and a tourism fair based on the cities.
All films will be followed by quizzes with exciting prizes. The visitors can also view an interactive map of the US that will combine cartography, information on the films and trivia. There will also be video booths displaying film shots and video clippings related to American cities.
