The government is likely to remove names of some people, earlier involved in militancy in Punjab, from the terror 'blacklist' as they no longer indulge in any subversive activities, official sources said on Monday.

Most of those included in the 'blacklist' are living abroad and some are India's most wanted. But certain names could be dropped from the list as they are either no longer associated with extremist ideology or are kin of terrorists, the sources said.

"Those who have criminal cases slapped against them will, however, not be shown any leniency," a senior official said.

Those in the blacklist have travel restrictions and are not eligible to get any Indian visa.

Sources said there are attempts to revive militancy in Punjab especially by a group based in Germany.

They said Punjab police is keeping a close vigil on all their activities and have arrested a few Khalistan militants in the recent past.
