The Congress-BSP confrontation over the developments in Uttar Pradesh continues unabated even as Pradesh Congress Committee chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi described as “disproportionate and illegal” the charges against her of violating the SC Act with her anti-Mayawati remarks.
Sonia Gandhi’s party kept up its demand for a CBI probe, refusing to accept the viability of a CB-CID investigation into the arson at Joshi’s house.
“I don’t expect the state police to be fair…Till the time the state government doesn't recommend a CBI inquiry into the incident, Congress workers will demand it at every police station of the state,” said Digvijay Singh, AICC general secretary in charge of UP.
Joshi met Singh in Delhi to give her version of the events. She met Singh on Sunday and is likely to call on the Congress president on Tuesday.
