A 61-year-old Chartered Accountant was murdered and his wife badly beaten up by robbers in their east Delhi residence in the wee hours with police suspecting the hand of their domestic help in the incident.
The incident took place in the Shreshta Vihar residence of Yash Pal Soli, a Chartered Accountant who is also a council member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, a senior police official said.
Soli, who runs his Y P Soli and Co At his No 14 Bungalow in the locality, was suspected to have been poisoned to death while his 55-year-old wife Sudha was beaten black and blue, the official said.
Police suspect the hand of a servant of the past five years, Surjit. He had left some time back but came back only two days ago for re-employment, the official said.
"Soli has no visible injuries on his body while his wife has severe head injuries. We are probing whether Surjit had added any poisonous substance to their food," he said. Soli had undergone three bypass surgeries in the recent past.
The official said the cause of death can be confirmed only after the post mortem examination.
"Surjit had worked for them for the past five years but had left work a few months ago. After the family's housemaid went on leave around a week ago, he came back and offered to work for them again," the official said.
