Chennai housewife foxes Delhi snatcher

A 32-year-old housewife from Chennai helped police nab a motorcycle borne snatcher near Plaza Cinema in Connaught Place in the heart of the city on Saturday night.

The woman — identified as Malini by police — caught hold of the accused when he tried to rob her of her gold chain when they were walking near the Plaza cinema around 8.30 pm on Saturday.

The accused has been identified as Mohd Rashid (35), who hails from Moradabad. “Rashid, travelling behind the woman, slowed down his motorcycle near her and attempted to snatch her gold chain. However, he could not succeed.

She raised an alarm and he was caught,” said Shankar Dash, additional commissioner of police.

A constable who was on patrolling duty nearby rushed to the scene of crime and arrested the accused.

The constable with the help of the public managed to overpower the accused his motorcycle.

During interrogation, police claimed, Rashid admitted to robbing a women travelling in an auto-rickshaw near Patiala House Court with the help of an associate in January.
