The Central Information Commission (CIC) may well work for transparency in government procedures, but when it comes to putting the property details of its information commissioners in the public domain, it indicated a 'no', though in a subtle manner.
The CIC wants to follow the same provisions in connection with asset declaration adopted by other commissions like EC and National Human Rights Commission among many.
"The idea was floated in one of the CIC's internal meetings. We have decided either all of us (information commissioners) will put details on the web site or none will. We have decided to check the provisions of other commissions and take steps accordingly," Chief Information Commissioner Wajahat Habibullah told PTI.
However, no commission puts property details of its commissioners on web site.
Habibullah said the issue was not about declaring assets but putting them on the web site. He, however, said matter was still under discussion and would come up in the internal meeting of the commission as a "follow up" of previous ones.
