Although the civic body claims that it is spending crores of rupees for the upkeep of the city, stray cattle menace continues to haunt the residents.
On Thursday, two persons were injured in an accident involving stray cattle.
According to the police, Jitender Kumar, a resident of New Ashok Nagar, and Kuldeep Sharma, a resident of Mayur Vihar Phase 3, were injured when their bike hit stray cattle at Sector 5. They were rushed to a nearby hospital.
The civic body had launched a drive against stray animals a few years ago but abandoned it after realising its futility.
The staff used to shift the animals to a distant place. But after a few days the same animals used to come back.
The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) had set up a veterinary hospital at Sector 94. This hospital is funded by the Noida authority. Besides, the authority has set up a cow shelter at Sector 94 which houses more than 200 cattle. There were incidents of stray cattle attacking pedestrians. Although the residents have brought the issue to the notice of the authorities, no action has been taken so far.
