Chief Justice of India SH Kapadia on Friday inaugurated a modern lock-up and an outlet for products made by Tihar Jail inmates.
In order to meet the increasing demand of the products manufactured in its factory, the Tihar Jail authorities today opened another outlet that would sell TJ Brand products at Karkardooma court premises.
With this, the total number of outlets selling TJ brand products rose to seven.
The new lock-up is better than the earlier ones, being more airy, better lit and there is also a place to sit, DG, Tihar Prisons, Neeraj Kumar said.
"We also have come up with a TJ outlet inside the court premises. This has been done to meet the increasing demand for goods produced in the Tihar Jail factory. The demand for the TJ Brand products are so much so that outlets that are there in other premises run out of stock by the first half of the day," he said.
Outlets selling TJ brand products are already functioning at Rohini (1), the High Court, Dwarka(1), Tis Hazari and around the Tihar Jail premises.
Products sold in these outlets range from biscuits to cotton shirts and hand-made decorative items - all made by inmates of the Tihar jail.
