An argument between some students of Dehradun Public School, Rajnagar, and a group of outsiders turned ugly on Wednesday afternoon when a boy was stabbed multiple times in his abdomen. The Class XI student was injured by a group of outsiders, said police.

According to police, the clash between two groups of youngsters was apparently triggered by an argument over vehicle parking. However, Rohit Thakur, the student admitted in hospital with deep injuries, had a different story to tell.

"The fight happened when five boys waiting outside our school tried to tease a female student. When I objected to their advances, they beat me up badly and also stabbed me," Thakur told HT.

Police have apprehended one of the accused, identified as Shatrunjaya Gaur, who runs a transport business in Ghaziabad and claims to have come to visit his friends studying in Dehradun Public School. The others managed to flee after the incident.

Vice Principal Richa Lowe confirmed Thakur was a student of the school.

According to Sunil Kumar, station officer, Kavinagar, a case has been registered under various sections of teh Indian Penal Code, including 324 (voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons).
