A clerk of a school in northeast Delhi’s Jafarabad was arrested on Thursday for sodomising a four-year-old LKG student in a toilet on Monday afternoon.
Police said the man, Ashok, 47, subjected the minor to unnatural sexual in the school’s toilet block. The boy has been admitted at a local hospital.
Enraged family members and neighbours of the minor on Thursday gathered outside the school and shouted slogans against the administration and police. They also allegedly damaged school property.
Police said the protesters also alleged the involvement of another person in the incident.
A senior police officer said the matter came to light after the boy returned home from school and his mother saw blood stains on his uniform. “When she asked him about it, he narrated the incident to her. She informed other family members and they reported the matter to the police,” said the officer.
A police team was sent to the school. The minor was sent to a nearby hospital, where a test established sexual assault. The accused was later arrested from the school.
The police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
The accused was produced before a city court which sent him to 14 days in judicial custody. The police said they were taking the assistance of an NGO to counsel the minor and help him ovecome the trauma.
