A Delhi Court on Monday pulled up the CBI for failing to issue notice to the complainant before filing the closure report against Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in a 1984 anti-Sikh riot case.
“It is legal requirement. It is mandatory. You should inform the complainant for not taking action on the matter,” said Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Lokesh Kumar Sharma ordering the notice.
The court made the observation when the CBI failed to put forth any record to show that it had issued any notice to the complainant Harvinder Kaur before filing the closure report in the court.
The court took the closure report filed by the CBI on record and issued notice to Kaur for February 23.
