Dr Chandra Vibhash, 31, didn't know where he was heading to with his wife's body stuffed in a bag. After killing his wife, Supriya Tushar, on Friday night, he took out a bag from almirah and stuffed her body in it. For few minutes he sat beside the body before stuffing it in the bag, the police said.
"After stuffing the body, he put the bag in the back seat of his i10 and started driving. At this point, he didn't know where he was heading to. It was after he reached Mathura that he decided to go to Allahabad to dump the body in the Ganga," a senior police officer said.
The police said that Vibhash left his Hari Nagar house at 11pm on Friday and drove continuously till he reached Mathura next morning.
"After reaching Mathura, he had dinner at a roadside dhaba. In the morning, he reached Handiya, which is at the outskirts of Allahabad and dumped the body near a bridge thinking it is river Ganga," the officer added. The police didn't get much time to interrogate Vibhash but he was very calm during questioning.
"When we asked why he went to Allahabad, he said as per Hindu religion, the remains of a body should be dumped in the Holy River," said the officer. Police said Vibhash stayed in Allahabad for few hours and then drove to Delhi and reached on Sunday. The police is also suspecting he had a brief stay somewhere as he cannot drive 1,400 km in two days.
