Kamal Singh Rawat(20) a student at Khalsa College in North Campus, was eagerly preparing to become a sub-inspector with the Delhi Police. But today, he became just another murder statistic in police records, when he was brutally stabbed to death by a group of assailants.

According to police, the reason behind the murder is money and personal enmity.

The incident happened in Sonia Vihar in north-east Delhi around 6.30 am. Police said that the victim bled to death after he was stabbed multiple times and dumped in the Usmanpur ridge area.

What happened?

According to Delhi Police, Kamal was on his way to college, when four assailants pulled him into a Wagon R car.

“He was a B.Com third year student. Four persons pulled him inside a car and beat him up with iron rods. He was kidnapped from near Nanaksar Gurudwara in E-Block in Sonia Vihar,” said a senior police officer requesting anonymity.

“After beating and later stabbing him multiple times, they dropped him near the Usmanpur jungles leaving him to bleed to death,” the officer added.

Some passersby noticed the victim and informed police, who rushed him to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital, where he died during treatment.

Investigations into the matter have led to the police zeroing in on four suspects in the case.

“We have identified Umesh, a mechanic, and his friends Praveen, Bachan and Jagat, who allegedly attacked the victim. We have formed teams to nab them,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police(Northeast) S.S. Yadav. According to police, Umesh, the main accused in the case and the victim got into a fight four months ago.

“Kamal wanted to buy a modified motorcycle. He gave money Umesh to get him one. But the accused could neither get the motorcycle nor did he allegedly give back the money and that's why the fight took place,” said Yadav.

“Later, however, the accused returned the money. Problems again cropped up between them a few days ago and that led to the murder,” Yadav added.

A case of murder has been registered and police are on the lookout for the four accused.
