A common ticketing facility for commuters travelling on Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses and Delhi Metro will be in place by next year, Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy said on Friday.
"The metro is now well-developed. In another six months, we will have a metro network of 190 km in Delhi. But that is not enough. People use buses to reach the metro stations and come back home also. So, we suggest a common ticketing system which is also the latest global trend. We are negotiating and in a year, we will have a common ticketing facility," Jaipal Reddy told reporters in New Delhi on the sidelines of a real estate event.
Such a system will help save the time and cost of the commuters who travel both by bus and metro, he added.
