Ranjan Yadav, a friend-turned-foe of Prasad is contesting against him on a JD-U ticket. Yadav left the Ram Vilas Paswan-led LJP after the party proceeded for an alliance with RJD. He joined Nitish Kumar’s JD-U vowing to defeat the RJD chief.

With three Yadav candidates from the main parties in the state vying for the votes of the community, which comprise the maximum electortate there, other communities would also become an important deciding factor now.

In Saran, the other parliamentary seat from where Prasad is contesting, BJP has fielded Rajiv Pratap Rudy.

Candidature of a local businessman Salim Parvej from BSP is brewing further trouble for Prasad’s Muslim-Yadav poll calculations there.
