Hussain is the second environment minister of the Arvind Kejriwal government after Asim Ahmed Khan who was sacked after bribery allegations.
“When one Mr. Qasim was building a house, a staffer, a junior engineer, and the brother of minister Imran Hussain demanded a bribe of ` 25 lakh from him,” Maken said.
”Qasim was first approached by the staffer who demanded Rs 25 lakh. Mr Qasim was then approached by a JE asking for money on behalf of the minister. Finally, he received multiple phone calls from Furkan Hussain, brother of Imran Hussain, asking for money.”
The Delhi government rubbished all allegations and said there was no credibility the audio, video tapes.
“In every sting operation, someone has to take responsibility. Who here can identify the person and this alleged relationship with Hussain? Who has conducted the sting? Who has identified the person in the video? There are no answers. Hussain maintains he does not know who the person in the video is. He is ready to quit if any charges against him are proved, he has told the government,” said a government spokesperson.
The Congress party, however, demanded Hussain’s resignation.
