After celebrating its victory in three of the five states that recently went to the polls, the Congress party will celebrate its 123rd foundation day on Sunday.
Party president Sonia Gandhi would be joining office bearers and party workers in the celebration.
"The celebration will be attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, cabinet ministers, members of Congress Working Committee, MPs and party workers," Tom Vadakkan, media secretary of Congress, told IANS.
Gandhi will unfurl the party tricolour at the Congress headquarters here. Full preparations are underway there for the occasion.
The short function at the party headquarters begins with the rendition of the national song 'Vande Mataram' and ends with the national anthem.
The Indian National Congress was founded in 1885. The first session of the party was held at Mumbai between Dec 28 and Dec 31, and was attended by 72 members.
