delhi Updated: Oct 19, 2010 16:16 IST

The Congress on Tuesday hit back at BJP President Nitin Gadkari for dragging the PMO into the CWG corruption scam. Congress spokesman Manish Tiwari said that the BJP President was feeling threatened because many BJP leaders were now coming in ambit of the probe.

Tiwari said that the allegation of corruption against the PMO were baseless. Earlier today, the BJP President demanded JPC probe into alleged CWG irregularities. Gadkari said there was very big scam in the holding of the event. The BJP chief further said that the CWG investigation should include all agencies of the Centre as well as of Delhi Government.

Talking about the cost escalations of various CWG projects he said that hiking of cost was approved by Cabinet and PMO and asked if the whole Cabinet was responsible for chaos and corruption in CWG.

He also said Benami financial deals took place in CWG projects through the Mauritius route.
