A 12-year-old boy, son of a Ghaziabad police constable, was allegedly bludgeoned to death by a real estate agent over personal enmity in Vijay Nagar area here, the police said.
Vikas Dohre, a Class 5 student of a public school, had gone to attend a birthday party at the house of his neighbour Shambhu Mandal in Siddharth Vihar on Friday night.
However, when he didn’t return till 12.30am, the constable’s family members launched a search with the help of their neighbours. They found the boy’s body at a nearby vacant plot. Mandal’s wife Asha reportedly told the victim’s family that he was last seen with the accused Sandeep Singh, 21.
Singh was later roughed up by locals and handed over to the police. The accused confessed to having committed the crime to “take revenge from the victim’s father Kamlesh Dohre”.
Dohre is posted as a head constable at NH-24 police post in Vijay Nagar area of Ghaziabad.
During interrogation, Singh said: “His father had roughed me up and slapped me publicly several times. When I saw his son at the birthday party, I made him drink beer and took him to a vacant plot in a semi-conscious state.”
According to the police, Singh hit the boy on his head with a heavy stone and later smashed the victim’s face against a tractor trolley parked at the scene of crime.
A case of murder has been registered, the police said.
