Convention Foyer: An exhibition where cardboards get a 3D art makeover
Artist Sanjay Dhawan, who has been practising artworks on corrugated cardboards, showcases his works in Delhi at India Habitat Centre.
Known for his experiments with corrugated cardboards, Ambala- based artist Sanjay Dhawan is showcasing his artworks in the Capital. “I don’t restrict myself to a set pattern. While experimenting with colours and mediums, I express my vision that comes from my soul,” says Dhawan, who has been a painter since childhood.
Despite holding a degree in engineering and with constant pressure from his father to pursue his business, the artist followed his passion. Going against all odds, he displayed his mettle as an artist. “My father wanted me to look after his business and due his deteriorating health conditions, I had to follow his instructions. After some time, I started working in a company and saved money to satiate my artistic urge. This process continued for almost three to four years,” says Dhawan, who has been converting cardboards into artworks for the five years.“Once while packing one of my paintings in cardboards, I got fascinated by the ridges and texture of the sheet. I thought of creating something unique out of it. They can even have a 3D assemblage.”
