Two months after a 44-year-old businessman was found dead at his Kirti Nagar residence, the police have arrested two men with whom the victim was allegedly involved in a physical relationship.

V Renganathan, additional commissioner of police (west) said that both the accused, identified as Kamal Kishore (19) and Pradeep (21) - both residents of Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh, had been arrested for robbing and murdering Narender Narang (44).

Narang had been single after he had divorced his wife in 1994 and was staying at E block in Kirti Nagar. His brother lives on the floor above his but the two were not on talking terms.

On August 29, police were informed about a foul smell emanating from Narang's residence and a police team rushed to the spot to find him lying naked in a highly decomposed state with a clutch wire around his neck.

"After interrogating about 500 people, we learnt that Narang ran his business from a godown in Shastri Nagar where, as part of his business, he had met Kamal Kishore about a year ago. The two then became friends and entered into a relationship about three to four months ago," said Renganathan.

Soon, Kishore learnt of Narang's business and that his daily payday ranged between R50,000 to R1 lakh, police said, adding, local enquiry from people performing menial jobs in the area led us to Kishore and subsequently to Pradeep.

"During interrogation, Kishore confessed that on the fateful day of August 26, he and Pradeep visited Narang at his godown and then accompanied him to his house. Kishore tied Narang's feet with a nylon cord and Pradeep strangled him with a clutch wire before the two escaped with Rs 50,000 cash and three of his mobile phones," Renganathan said.
