The Delhi police arrested a man for the murder of a woman whose body was found at Indraprastha Park, near Sarai Kale Khan.
According to the police, the woman, Sandhya, was having an extra-marital affair with the accused, Jitender Singh.
They said she had left her in-laws' house a week before her body was found and was living with the accused.
The body was found on April 23, near the wall adjoining the railway track inside the park.
"We placed her photos across Inter State Bus Terminals and railway stations. On May 14, the girl's father saw the poster and contacted us. He told us that Sandhya got married to a man, Deepak, in Aurangabad, Bihar, a year ago," Ajay Choudhary, additional commissioner of police (southeast) said.
However, according to her father, Sandhya was having affair with Singh, a resident of Mandawali in east Delhi.
"Jitender was apprehended on Monday and was asked to join investigation. He confessed to have killed her because she was she was insisting on marriage. On April 23, the two went to the Indraprastha Park and went through wedding rituals. They then had physical relations. After this, Singh slit Sandhya's throat," he added.
According to the officer, Singh, after killing Sandhya, took away her mobile phones, SIM cards, diary, photographs and voter's ID card, so that no one could identify her.
