Even as the two-year-old baby battles for her life at the AIIMS Trauma Centre, police are scouring two states to find her elder brother (aged five years) and the man who allegedly made him disappear.

The Delhi Police, which nabbed small-time cab operator Mohammad Dilshad alias Rajkumar (32) for abandoning the toddler on Saturday, is on the pursuit of an unidentified man, suspected to be her brother’s earliest custodians after both the siblings were ‘cheated’ away from their mother, Munni.

“While Laxmi had handed over the baby to Rajkumar through one Gaurav, her husband Ram Kumar Mishra’s friend, Munni’s son had been handed over to another suspect. So, it is this man who holds the key to locating the child,” said a police officer.

Laxmi has already been arrested. She had allegedly duped Munni to give up her three kids to become a more sought-after bride.

Police claim two of their teams are travelling through Haryana and Rajasthan to locate this second middleman — who happens to be the final missing link in the case.

“According to Laxmi, the five-year-old child had been handed over to this person. Perhaps, he still has the child in his custody,” the officer said.

Meanwhile, Rajkumar was sent to two days’ police custody after being nabbed from New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday morning.
