A Municipal Councillor’s son from Makanpur in Indirapuram has been arrested for the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl.

Police have arrested Sachin Tyagi (22) and sent him to 14 days’ judicial custody.

He will be lodged at the Dasna Jail. Sachin’s mother Anita Tyagi is the councillor from Makanpur.

In her complaint, the class XII student has alleged that the accused took her to an isolated spot for a couple of days on the pretext of marrying her and then raped her.

Indirapuram SHO Inspector Rajesh Dwivedi said the accused has been booked for abduction and rape.

The girl is a student of a school in Vinod Nagar in Delhi.

“The girl, a resident of Nyaya Khand in Indirapuram, said the accused took her to an unidentified place between March 11 and March 15,” Dwivedi said.

Despite repeated attempts, councillor Anita Tyagi could not be contacted either on her mobile phone or her landline number.

But a source close to the Tyagis said Sachin was being falsely implicated in the case.

Police said the girl has been sent for medial examination and police have registered a case of rape and abduction.

“Medical reports are yet to come in but we have registered the case and arrested Tyagi on the basis of the girl’s statement,” Superintendent of Police (SP) A.K. Vijeta told HT.
