With the MCD in its kitty, the BJP is now eyeing the Delhi assembly.
The party has asked the councillors to start preparing ground for the assembly elections next year by meeting local residents and working round-the-clock. State in-charge of Delhi affairs and senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu held a meeting with the newly-elected councillors on Wednesday and told them to spread awareness about the achievements of the BJP in the MCD.
“Naidu advised us to win the confidence of the local residents in our respective wards. We were also asked to focus on roads and sanitation,” said a newly-elected councillor.
The councillors were warned against lethargy after scoring a win in the civic polls.
Councillors have also been asked to cooperate with each other in providing better civic amenities to the city.
“Terming the civic polls as quarter-final, Naidu asked all corporators present in the meeting to start preparing for the semi-finals (Delhi assembly elections) so that the ultimate goal of winning the finals (2014, general election) is achieved,” added a BJP worker.
BJP president Nitin Gadkari also held a meeting with the new corporators on Thursday.
