Couple thrashed in S Delhi petrol pump
An official of the Ministry of Defence and his wife were reportedly beaten up by four motorcycle-borne men at a busy petrol pump in southwest Delhi, reports Vijaita Singh.
In an alleged case of road rage, an official of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and his wife were reportedly beaten up by four motorcycle-borne men on Wednesday night at a busy petrol pump in RK Puram in southwest Delhi.
The four men also allegedly spitted at the elderly couple and verbally abused them.
Police said the victim and his wife had gone to the petrol pump at Sector-12 in RK Puram around 10 pm to fill fuel in their scooter. The couple live a few blocks away from the pump.
The incident started when the elderly man raised objection when one of the motorcyclists hit his scooter, police said.
“I was waiting in a queue at the petrol pump when the four men, who were on a motorcycle, came from behind. They bumped into my scooter. One of them started spitting on the road. When my wife objected to it, they started abusing us,” said the victim in his complaint filed on Friday.
The man also alleged the motorcyclists tried to run their motorcycle over him and threatened them with dire consequences.
“The four men beat up my parents badly. My father had to be given stitches on his face, while my mother’s back was badly bruised,” the elderly couple’s son told the Hindustan Times.
Police said they have identified the bikers, who are residents of Basant village and would arrest them soon.
“When we were about to leave, the four men intercepted my scooter. One of them spitted on my wife’s face and pushed her and she fell. After that, one of them turned to me and punched me hard in my mouth, I stared bleeding,” said the victim.
“They even picked up an iron rod lying nearby and tried to thrash my wife. When we raised our voice, a passerby called the police control room. The men fled from the scene after that,” the victim further said.
A case under section 354, 509/34 IPC has been registered at the RK Puram police station. No arrests have been made.
